2 Months have passed...miss me yet?
My intention was to do some serious blogging about the process of moving to North Carolina and starting my new job here, but I found that God had other plans. I have been seriously overwhelmed in my new job...not by the work, but rather overwhelmed by the way that the people that are Samaritan's Purse love what they do. Not only do the people I work with on a daily basis love what they do, but they love the people they serve and that is because they love their God. I have often head it said that the hardest part of leaving a place is the people you leave behind. That is true. But I am so thankful that I have the opportunity to serve with some of the most amazing people. This is a ministry...make so mistake about it. But this isn't a bunch of missionaries as I expected it to be.
The people I have met all come from different backgrounds. There are doctors, lawyers, missionary kids, business executives, a retired General, Boone natives, a guy who has spent the vast majority of his life in Congo, pastors, pastor's wives, mothers, fathers, pilots, mechanics, authors, truck drivers, chefs and then there's me. We all have one major thing in common...a love for God and heart for the people who are hurting and have no idea how much God loves them. I thought I knew a great deal about SP through all my research in preparing for this job I'm doing. I spent the first weeks at SP overwhelmed by the vastness of this ministry and how far reaching their work is.
I want to take a minute to introduce the ministry to you. If you're at all like me, you've heard about Operation Christmas Child and perhaps you've even shipped a shoebox. You may have seen Franklin Graham spotlighted on Foxnews from time to time, and perhaps you've heard about the work being done in Joplin, MO and Tuscaloosa, AL after the tornados ripped apart those areas. There is so much more...take a look at this video to get a small glimpse into all that is going on around the world...
I hope the video gave you a better idea of what we do here at SP. Perhaps one or two of you might be interested in getting involved. At the very least I would like to encourage you to support the ministry of Samaritan's Puse. Not for my benefit, but for the benefit of the people in that video. There is no shortage of need. I'd love to share more with you about SP and I will do that through this blog as time goes on. Thank you all for your love and support.
